Health matters: You must be in good health to undertake a safari. We visit remote areas with little or no medical facilities. The areas we travel to in southern Botswana are not malarial. The north of the country is malarial and if you are travelling on to northern Botswana you should see your doctor about anti-malaria prophylactics.
We require that clients arrange travel insurance to cover against both cancellation penalties and medical treatment. The insurance should include emergency evacuation cover. It is important to note however, that much of the time while we are out in remote areas we have no immediate way of communicating with the outside world.
THE EQUIPMENT
Tents: Adventure bow tents, 3 person, material ripstop, 220 x 185 x 1.5metres high, sown in heavy duty 550g pvc ground sheet, insect proof with zip-up gauze door and window screens and weather proof with zip-up door and window canvas covers, separate fly sheets and detachable verandahs.
Walk-in dome tent, 5 person/family tent with camp beds available for additional charge of P30 per person sharing per night.
Bedding
Mattresses single and double, high density 65mm thick. Sleeping bags/douvets 200grms hollow fibre suitable for use at -5 C. Cotton sheet sleeping bags. Clients are encouraged to bring their own pillows. Each tent has inside a suspended battery lamp and outside, a wash-stand.
Vehicles
We use 3.4 and 4.5lt diesel Landcruisers. They are the high roof model which gives more head room and window viewing space. The seating capacity is 8 but we carry on average 6 passengers. Apart from personal hand baggage the luggage and equipment is carried on the roof rack.
Cuisine
Eating out in the bush is a special experience and we try to make our meals, whether buffet picnics or at the dinner table, leisurely, prolonged events. The ingredients are simple, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and meat grilled over an open fire. Limited local beer and wine is supplied with meals.
The traditional dishes prepared in the homesteads are wholesome and tasty. You will also have the opportunity to cook and sample the food gathered in the bush.
We cater for special culinary requirements.
